In-person and online Psychotherapy for New parents, and trying parents in san diego

You’re wondering what happened to “you”. To classify this as a “change” feels like an understatement. Your once reliable, controllable schedule, desires, and priorities seem like a distant memory, and now you feel like all that you are hinges on the new life you have created or the one you have been trying to create. You sometimes find yourself wondering if you’ll ever escape this stagnant overwhelm to reconnect with your former self. You wonder who this new you is, and if this new you is sustainable, capable of happiness and contentment. You feel conflicted by the “shoulds” of parenthood. “I should be able to get pregnant”; “What is wrong with me?” Or: “I didn’t think parenting would be so hard.”; “I should be insanely happy, grateful, and magically in love,” etc., but something doesn’t feel right and these thoughts continue to come up. You ensure each and everyday that your loved ones, your job, and the other onlookers see you as mostly okay, and/or that baby is happy and healthy, but what about YOU?

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Eva, and I would love to help

I love working with first-time and experienced moms who are looking to reconnect with their authentic selves. This may be a journey of marrying the past and present. It may be processing beliefs about yourself and what makes you, “you”. It may be mourning the loss of your pre-baby life as you embark on the very new, vert foreign journey of parenthood. Typically, my clients engage in weekly sessions, in which we collaborate and explore what feels most pressing to you. I draw heavily from solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques, and enjoy providing real-life applicable skills and practices to support my clients’ progress throughout treatment. I like sessions to feel like conversations with a friend. A friend who can gently challenge, question, or provoke new paths of thought or reflection. Whatever you wish to bring into session, I promise to meet you where you are, to be authentic as a real person, not simply a therapist, and sprinkle in a little (or a lot) of humor as we go.
